A Great Place for Lunch or Dinner in Leander, Texas

I just returned from a great dinner at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in Leander, Texas. Leander needs some good restaurants so I am excited about this one!! Located near the Walgreen’s at Bagdad and Crystal Falls it is only 5 minutes or less from my home or from Crystal Falls neighborhood. The menu is online and pretty extensive. I have to say I was impressed. I wanted something special for dinner, some food that included a lot of vegetables. I found what I wanted at Luigi’s. I enjoyed a great salad that included capers, artichoke hearts, olives, mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, tomato and it all had been tossed with a fresh lemon dressing. I also had the Eggplant Rollantini and between the salad and eggplant I needed a to go container. The restaurant also serves fresh baked rolls along with your food. Appetizers, besides many usual dishes, also include Shrimp Napeloni as well as Minestrone Soup and also Spinach Soup. There is an extensive variety of house specials such as Chicken Promodoro which is chicken sautéed in herbs and a sherry wine Marinara sauce over Ziti. There are many sandwiches including Calzone, Stromboli and Subs. There is also Homemade Pizza, Spaghetti and classic baked Pastas such as Lasagna, Eggplant Parmigiana and more. The desserts include the many usual cheesecake types as well as Cannoli and Tiramisu. They do not have their liquor license yet so for now it is BYOB. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and we enjoyed excellent service. The atmosphere of this small restaurant is nice. A painted wall mural of an Italian hillside, plants, red curtains and lots of windows create a welcoming atmosphere. There are booths as well as tables and one slightly more private dining area towards the back. In a strip center only a few years old, this space was Como’s restaurant before. I thought the prices were very reasonable with most items under $10.00. Of course seafood items and others were over $10.00 but still most were under $15.00. We had eaten at Tony and Luigi’s Restaurant (not related to my knowledge) on South Church Street in Georgetown for dinner a couple of weeks before and I think Luigi’s in Leander is more reasonably priced with a more extensive menu. Just compare their two menus on line and you will see. The Leander Luigi’s has another restaurant in Belton, Texas near Temple and Waco.
